I fucking hate the place... part dept is good but to buy a bike there, i never would.
When i was looking for my CBR600RR, i was already approved and had my honda card in hand ready to buy a bike. I walk in and say there, i want that one NOW, ill buy it now and take it home today. The guy im working with, i think is a manager, hes older, looks at me and says ok lets get the paper work started.
I go ok, how much you going to let it go for... well MSRP is $8900 so, $8900.... :poke:
I laugh at him, tell him i can get it in MA for $7800 and he better work with me to make it worth while, im not buying it for MSRP, i said i want it for $8000 or ill go else where. He gives me the run around comes back and says ok, since im a nice guy, hell give it to me for $8700 before tax, reg and other fees.
All in all guy was a prick and wouldnt budge on the price at all... so i drove to MA the same day and got my bike for $8600 OTD.

Eh....What can you do? For some reason motorcycle dealerships sometimes feel that they don't need to bargain with you (unlike car dealerships).
You should have brought the bike there, showed the sales manager your sales paperwork, and then pooped in the doorway on your way out.

seems to be a trend with CT dealers...they just don't let bikes go for too far under MSRP. I suggest buying the bike in NY...i paid less than 9,100 out the door for my 1000.....transfered the plate from the superhawk for like 15 bucks, 25 dollar title fee, and the taxes....well i'm not going to incriminate myself on what happened there
However, def don't suggest you have the bike serviced in NY or buy anything else from the dealer...they have insane markups...for example they typically charge 165 for LP frame sliders and 90 dollars for LP spools.....bullshit if you ask me :)

Your problem with Manchester Honda is that you asked them what they would sell the bike for. Just go in with your financing and reasonable offer in hand. If they don't accept it, then go somewhere else.
It also depends on what kind of customer you are. If they know you and can reasonably formulate that you will be spending more money in that shop, then the deal may get better.

Its is their good or poor decision to make, they probably know they will sell it for 8700 to someone that doesnt really shop around. Either way if I ever buy another bike I will definately shop around more than I did last time...

no thats the thing, i walked in saying i want a bike now, this is what i want to pay, if you dont sell it ill go else where where i KNOW i can get it for much less. The manager pertty much looked at me and said $8700 ($200 off MSRP)... after that he said if i dont like it i should go to the other place and buy it there.
I turned around and said ill be telling all my friends about this service and make sure none of them deal with you again!

That is exactly what I meant when I first suggested to place such a sub-forum here on the mostly local forum. This info might just save a fellow rider from the negative experience and bring more business to the people who deserve it.

no manchester honda just sucks for stuff like this.. trust me i worked there... the have there " no haggle" price system.. basicly what the sticker is .. is what they sell it for. i worked on the car side not motorcycle , but same deal. the thing that really sucks is even employess get screwed over. i had looked into a repsol when i was buying my 04 and even my "employee price" was 1600 more than i paid for my gixxer.
i will say at least the guys in service and most in parts are pretty good guys and will help you if they can..just dont try to go there and get a bargain!

i think that manchester's parts dept. is the best of any dealer in this part of the state. all in all, bike shops in CT are of very poor quality. there is only one that i trust and it is in fairfield county.

I was going to spend money there but they wouldnt budge on the price. Item was a pair of Sidi boots. Calsportbike was going to give me a way better deal, I only asked for a little off, the guy looks at me at says "these just came out". Same thing with their gloves, why am i going to pay MSRP when EVERYONE else sells them for usually 20% off MSRP.
I guess they just don't confirm to the industry standard, which makes me wonder how long they are going to stay in business.
To me (and every other internet retailer) its better to sell a lot at a small profit then sell little at a bigger profit.
I'm pretty sure I won't be going back to them anytime soon.

I had good luck with the service dept they were fair, and timely.
I recently bought something off the shelf at the parts dept, they matched the price of a similar but smaller item they had. I didnt expect it but ill tale 10$ off anyday.

Best way to deal is not threaten, or even mention other places, just go in make yout pitch that this is what I will pay. they take it or leave it. I have a 90% ratio of getting items on my terms this way. Even to the point of walking away and getting to the door 15 times before he agreed to my price.
Just keep it simple, Say thats a nice counter offer you made me but you seem to be misunderstanding me I said I will pay X price, no more Other than that I have a ride (bike, car) etc so Its not a rush.
But have your facts in advanced so you have a realistic price in mind and stick with it til you find it.

manchester honda is a good business with good people. my boss is very good friends with the owner and his family, they are some of the nicest people. i can't blame them for not wanting to lower their prices if they know they can get what they're asking for it.

Manchester honda and shaller acura do not drop prices. They will walk your business knowing they will sell it to someone else. Very simply.
I am really surpised you even got $200 off msrp. That is simply how that business adn alot of other businesses are beginging to do business. Higher quality service is being traded discounts off product. You will have a better service experience, but your not getting anything cheaper then the next person.
Plus anytime product is discounted, its means the company doesnt value what it is selling. We all know how much work is put into those bikes, i can see why they would do that.
I for one will always pay a bit more for better quality.

Its a bike, the same bike at dealer A that is at dealer B. I ended up going to another HONDA/Yamaha dealership and paid less than $1,000, in the end i was OTD for less than the MSRP they wanted in manchester and i was treated like a person, everything worked out great and just how i expected it to be... no dicking around, almost a snikering type attitude and so on.

ya i got this thing about buying from one place and having it serviced somewhere else if i can. But you probably did all your servcing yourself. I would have been bringing it to them for whatever it needed. Plus if something goes wrong like Palm Bombs bike, if you get it from a shaddy dealer or whatever you might have a bigger headache.
In your case it worked out just fine, so no worries.
If the guy was as rude/annoying as you said thats not right. There is a right and wrong way to present the fact taht you are not dropping your price to customer. BEing a dealership that doesnt haggle, shouldn't be held against them, that is a pretty bold stand to make in the USA. A country known for its wheeling and dealing.

oh no doubt its also about how they treat their customers, i've only delt with the parts department and they were very pleasant. but i will tell you that they didnt give my boss much of a discount when he bought his pilot from them and they've been friends for many many years, they stick to their prices

Buy used. Cheap, price is almost always negotiable, and you dont have to deal with sales people, crating or unpacking or setup fee's.

umm...that dealership has been my bitch since that little incident  I paid 9,053 out the door for my brand new 06 1000. It's simple, if a dealer won't negotiate price, they don't get my business....end of story. They're okay with that, I'm okay with that....have fun trying to stay in business when dealerships in the next state over dump them @ cost  however, most dealerships in CT don't move enough bikes to get the best volume discount possible from the factory (or so this is how it's been explained to me) Sucks for CT dealers, great for any buyer in CT willing to take a day out of their life to save 2300 bucks (2500 if you consider the fact i was going to buy an 07). most reasonable CT dealer I've seen so far is columbia motorsports...scott is the man, he'll dump the bike as low as he's allowed to without getting bitched at, won't charge you to mount any mods, etc etc.

I bought my '02 F4i as a leftover in '03 OTD for $6500 (no taxes since i was out of state) from lake hill motors in Mississippi. They were just outstanding to deal with. No BS, no hidden fees, and they get you in and out in 15mins!!!!!! That was on a busy saturday too! I was highly impressed and they even had a good deal on a canyondancer for me.
I haven't seen anyone else with better deals. shameless plug :) http://www.lakehillmotors.com/hondaonroad.htm#sport
