I am drinking plenty of water. About 3-5 liters a day at least.

Yes, and yes.

Rant/vent to keep myself in check:

I'm in this for the long run.... It's very difficult for me to 'diet' well because there is one MAJOR food group that I don't/can't eat and that is fruit. My body does not like the texture. Although, I've been trying hard to take some babysteps in trying different things and maybe I can change this. I'm also trying to incorporate more 'green' into my meals. I'm terrible at this stuff.

I do not eat fast food, I do not drink soda, I do not drink much alcohol, I do not add any extra salt to any of my food. I hate ketchup.

So for me, it's going to come down to making better food choices and working out as much as my schedule allows me. The hard part is, making sure I stay on track. I have 3 ongoing bets/challenges about this. I am determined to win with myself first, and hopefully in the process I will win the bets as well.

1 Butterball challenge for cheap trackdays.

1 Beach body bet with a good friend of mine who happens to be right around my height/weight.

1 challenge I set for myself to fit into my new to me suit. It fits me pretty well except for the gut. I am determined of all things to make this work the most. I did not spend money on a kickass suit which is the correct size for my height, but not my current weight. I have to get down to 150ish for it to be perfect.

All of these are motivation for myself and no one else. I'm also very thankful of Virginia as she's been very supportive and encourgaing to keep me on track.

/End rant

PS this is not directed towards anyone but myself.

No shit. One of the many factors that makes the obesity epidemic worse in our country. Eating crap is cheaper than eating healthy. Wish the govt. would subsidize healthier food. Help out farmers...and help out everyone else looking for better food options.

Mo, I don't eat much fruit at all...you can get all your vitamins and minerals without 'normal' amounts. don't beat yourself up about it too much....veggies are great though. Most have lots of nutrients your body loves...plus, they make gret low calorie snacks....keep towards the green stuff though. Corn is useless and has a lot of sugar....

Mark - exactly! healthier food is MUCH more expensive than processed or frozen sh*t...

Yup, eating healthy/right costs more than eating shittily. Fast food is both cheap and easy...but (as mentioned in another thread) so are Steamfresh bags. If you look for the sales, you can get the regular size bags for $1/ea fairly regularly, and often the family size bags for $1/ea. Corn may not do anything for you health-wise, but it sure fills some of the void. There's also garlic cauliflower (the whole bag is 140 cal), edemame (haven't tried it yet), many others. Rice cakes are cheap. Otherwise you hit the high points - some kinds of nuts, store brand oatmeal, yogurt (though I dont eat it)...string cheese isn't bad...raisins. Find some veggies you like (I just rediscovered celery (which is negative cal) and PB today ) if fruit is no good. And whatever you're going to eat, stock up when it's on sale.
