I'm going to be at my company's NY office on W 27th st in the morning, then heading over.

A bunch of new bikes that I'm interested in checking out should be there... the XSR700, the new CB1000R and CB300R (could be a really nice/cheap commuter), the Kawasaki Z900RS....

If Yamaha does show up with a MotoGP bike, as you look at it, keep this in mind, according to

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money...lion/31376337/

and

http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars...ech-of-motogp/

- The forks cost about $100,000
- The engine costs about $220,000
- The whole bike costs roughly $2 million
- The carbon brakes operate at 900 degrees C.
- The engine redlines at 17,000 rpm and uses pneumatic valves.
- The transmission is "seamless" and engages one gear before fully disengaging the other. Shift times are on the order of 0.009 seconds.

It's a safe bet that almost no one at the show has any freakin' clue what they're looking at. And they let you walk right up to the thing. Incredible.

Okay, so I'm admittedly a nerd about bike tech, but that one machine is worth the trip to the show for me all by itself. I was seriously bummed that they didn't bring one last year. Keeping my fingers crossed this year... Google tells me that it showed up at this year's Long Beach show.

I think I will be going down Friday. Not quite sure how or when though. Any coupons for the entry fee?
