I'd estimate you're in the minority with internet ratio and such.

Records sound awesome. I have a few hundred hand selected beauties, used to go to record shows and buy stuff I'd read about in guitar player magazine. Some of my favorites are Little Walter, Albert King, early stones, etc.

LPs were all I had growin up so since it's not a new phenomenon for me and even though I love the sound, it's annoying to have to flip the album every 25 minutes or whatever. Still throw em on once in awhile, on a turntable right in the main room of my house.

I listen to full albums in the car. when people are over im trying to play dj to the atmosphere and mood.

Also much like kyle my parents vinyl got lost sold when they split. I'd kill for a vinyl of purple rain and some babyface though.

But I will agree that with the rise of streaming services I do find myself listening to a lot of the music that my parents listened to. Trying to get the wife on the new jack swing.

I might have a record player.

I definitely have a milk crate full of records that you're welcome to go through.

(by "go through" I mean that you're getting the whole crate, and whatever you don't want is your problem)

Roger. I'll work on locating the (possible) record player. There's a 65% chance that I tossed it, but I don't specifically remember doing so.

Also, a heads up. Modern receivers won't accept a record player. They connect a little differently than other audio components. So as you're looking at receivers, make sure that it has a "phono" button to select the record player as a source. No "phono" button, no ability to connect your desired next level of hipster culture.

(I have a receiver, currently being used in my garage, that has the ability to connect a phonograph. So if you're striking out on the receiver, find a used, POS, receiver that has A and B speaker channels and we can swap)

Good modern amps are still made with tubes...they sound better. And fuck the hipster haters.

R/budgetaudophile might be helpful here. I put together systems online sometimes and still haven't pulled the trigger on anything. Think I've had a 2.1 system with speaker stands, wire, and a turntable in my Amazon cart for over a year.

Not the high fidelity answer, but I have bose speakers on my computer sound card and a usb turntable. Mostly to let me burn an old album rather tan to just listen. I could put a turntable on my receiver, but streaming is just too easy.
