Default Good News Everyone

Saw on 2 TV channels

Connecticut has cut their part time prosecuting attorneys to almost zero

The full timers are too busy with criminal cases

so

60% of traffic violations which are contested the state fails to prosecute and you get off free, I think its called NOLOED

So fight all the tickets and have a better than even odds your free

That's been going on for over a year now. The normal prosecutor's now handle the infractions. Most people get reduced fines.

Just went to court for a rolling stop sign ticket.

Ticket was for $129.

Got offered $100 charity donation or $50 reduced fee before I even opened my mouth about my defense.

Still taking it to trial because fuck it why not. ALLEGED infraction occurred in July, first court date was first week of November, trial date is in February.

If they aren't putting it on your record, why the fuck wouldn't you have taken that!

I got pulled over for "burning out" in my truck a year back. They had me mail in my defense, but still made me come to the courthouse to talk to the prosecutor. He asked me two questions: "Was this a MVA?" and "Do you have insurance?". No and yes obviously. He told me to GTFO, and threw it out. No questions about the incident whatsoever.

Weirdest shit ever, but I'll take it.

Completely agree with the full price donation to get it to go bye bye.

But, one of the cops was kind of a dick and a car drove by with its lights completely off during the stop and they didn't do anything about that fucker. I asked if they saw the guy drive by and no shit, the cop's answer was "I am concerned with my investigation of you." Said no, he didn't see it. Then I asked if he normally isn't aware of his surroundings (dick move I KNOW) and then asked again if he saw the car drive by with his lights off.... then the dude was like, yup, saw it, don't care.

Fighting it out of principle more than anything else at this point. It's a losing proposition, but whatever.

Accepting a reduced fine is pleading guilty to the infraction.

I wish they'd (the state) realize it's not about the fine, it's about getting fucked by the insurance company
