What is (if any) the difference between jail and prison? And a bonus question: Why Noel would fare better in one but not in the other?

Towns and Counties have jails

feds and State have prisons

On topic I am closer than most to Old Lyme, If deliberately going for a slow ride
I would go street clothes not ATGATT some what heat related

Jail is people who are not yet sentenced, prison is people who are serving time who are already sentenced.

Noel would not do well at either.
