Really?

The new goldwing is lightyears ahead both of those, IMO.

yeah the first one. I would like a big v-twin tourer, but im just not sipping the HD koolaid.

and yes the wing is better, but that better is going to have one hell of a cost.

By the time my kid is big enough, I should be able to find one of these cheap

Sip. The HDs are better. It isn't just koolaid. Go get touchy-feely on the controls on those Star tourers.. they suck. Cheap plastic switches. Lots and lots of chrome-colored plastic. Meanwhile HD has done wonders to their touch surfaces and controls, particularly since the "rushmore" treatment of MY2014.

Honda is also very good at this. Both the 'Wing and HD tourers feel like you could beat the piss out of them every day for years on end and they'd hold up. Everything else in that big bagger / tourer segment pales in comparison.

Maaaaaaaaaybe CB300R. But most of the bikes pictured are - dare I sayy it - too futuristic (or maybe too minimalist) for me.

This. Even a decade ago. My dad's 100th anniv. Fat Boy has generally better everything than anything newer I've ridden.
