I honestly don't know anything about it. It hasn't been trendy up until a year ago and the whole thing just stinks of a huge money making scheme that will end in a class action lawsuit because they weren't even remotely accurate.

Wife just accepted a new job offer that will be providing a car. Wish she got that a couple weeks ago before I just bought a new commuter beater. Could have started driving her car instead.

I bent the tabs up a little which helped a lot, also for some reason the metal tabs had some plastic on it. Thinking they put a dab of plastic to hold it to the bottom of the socket which was the crappy design I was referring to. Not only does that reduce contact but you also have to crack off the plastic if its not fully seated. Prior to bending it sometimes the light would not come on or start to flicker.

those contacts corrode easily and then cause issues with electrical conductivity. the resultant of that is heat and they melt. with a new base that is clean from oils and corrosion. apply a film of dielectric grease to the contacts to prevent corrosion and install in the fixture. also make sure to not exceed recommended wattage for the base or the fixture. That can also case to much heat and melt the fixture.
