Reviving this thread, because I ran into an issue: I ran the straps under the sub-frame of the Tuono:

but I had a TON of extra strap left and it hung out either side, like this:

With the Triumph, I was able to store the straps under the seat when not in use because there was some extra room under such luck with this bike. So I started browsing online, and found they they made a connecting strap for when you weren't using the bag or had to bring the bag inside (I use it to hold my lunch when I commute to work), so I tried to order them

and found them to be discontinued, because they've gone to a new strap design:

I ordered them from Cycle Gear here -

Basically, there are tiny loops that now stick out the side that are way more low-profile and are supposed to be a more secure solution when you use the new straps with the alloy hooks

Overall, I'm pretty impressed, I feel it was definitely worth the $29. Going to try them out tomorrow and will let you guys know how it goes
