I'm seriously thinking about a school bus.

A bus was my first choice when I started looking for rvs, but a shuttle type with a lift. I couldn't get anyone to answer any questions about registration. Lots of "potential" loop holes, but everything seemed to depend on the mood of the person at each step at the dmv.

I've heard they drive terribly. Otherwise an old handicapped short bus would be perfect. Lift gate and errythang.

rent a pickup. Done. If you rent a vehicle a dozen times a year you save the wear and tear on your own vehicle, plus you aren't paying tax and reg on it each year. For the handful of times you'll use it- it seems like a better deal.

Sav still have his ambulance for sale? That thing seemed pretty sweet for hauling bikes/gear, but probably not that practical for any other uses.

How many trackdays per year do you expect to do? How many of those will include an overnight stay?

Those two questions will have a large impact on what suggestions make the most sense.

probably 12-14, with hopefully all of them being a 2 day trip, so 6-7 overnights.

edit: per year

My BIL has solar and deep cycle battery on his camper. Surprising how much and long it can run everything before needing shore power.

I have run the full gambit.... Borrowed Truck > Nissan Frontier sleeping in the bed.. > Suburban and a 7x14x12 trailer > Suburban with smaller LOW 7x12 > class A RV with the 7x12 > 31ft fun mover toy hauler >

that leads to NOW. Ford Flex Eco BOOOOOOOST and a 7x12 trailer

the best rig was no surprise.... the toy hauler. everything in 1 package but it had its downside... Im now working on making the new trailer a comfortable way to stay at the track and im sure that as long as I keep my expectations reasonable it will be just fine. MrKurtz asked the important questions, answer those and make up a few of your own ive been at it long enough to know myself and what I use at the track, what I need to be comfortable and what I would not go without.

and just so I can get ahead of MrKurtz... that then leads to >

The GTI already has better-than-Golf brakes. I never had any sketchy moments, but I was just about to install a brake controller once I got the 7x12 - only because that trailer had electric brakes.
