which bike is having the issue? my VFR did the same thing and nothing appeared wrong at face value.. I figured it was just overloaded suspension on the occasions it did it.

It's the VFR.

Suspension shouldn't be overloaded when I'm solo. Forks and shock were upgraded by the PO.

Check the fore/aft movement in the steering head by pulling/pushing on the front tire and bars. If the steering head nut is too loose, you would feel some rocking forward/backward in the motion.

put the bike on a stand, and a good way to check is to face the headlight, kneel down in the path of the bike, grasp the very bottom of the fork legs with one hand on each side, and see if there is any play front to back. In other words, can the front axle get any closer to or further from the rear axle bolt while staying parallel to it, at all, due to free play? If so, (assuming the nuts holding it all together at the neck aren’t loose), replace the steering head bearings.

I’d also check that the rotors aren’t warped.

I think I noticed that on my EX500 right after I put new tires on it - was only noticeable when I let go of the bars though, otherwise was fine. Rode it another 10k miles or so after that just keeping my hands on the bars

mine did the same, also with just me. I didn't spend too much time figuring it out, although my steering head bearings were good and tires were new. It did it more in a higher gear and lower speed.

Whelp... took a closer look at the tire last night and it is definitely cupped/scalloped. Not sure if that's the cause, symptom, or a bit of both. Google searches indicate that this is normal wear for the front tire, or points to rebound damping issues. Damned VFR is not externally adjustable, so any changes to the rebound damping will have to wait for a fork tear-down.

I'll check for the fore-aft wiggle in the stem bearings, also.

My concern is that I am feeling it, to some extent, while leaned over at those speeds.

I'll go with loose fastener for head bearings or cupped tires (currently getting some wobble on mine and its def the stock tire being worn out and needing to get replaced).
