that sidecar rig is cool as shit!

...but it's no safer than a two wheeled motorcycle. Maybe less? You're still exposed, as you are on a motorcycle, but you give up maneuverability .

Maybe a little safer, much bigger to be seen by drivers. People are less likely to try and be aggressive towards you with their car too.
