Saw this a few days ago on the SV forums.
For clarification, it's discontinued in the US but is available everywhere else.
I think it sucks for the motorcycle community in general, but I'm not surprised given the market in America. It's always been about the latest, greatest I4 supersport around here.

Interesting. I thought the SV was still there the last I checked - and it's still up for the UK site.
Some other guys on the SV board were saying the VStrom disappeared from the US site for a few weeks before the update got rolled out recently. And maybe that'll happen with the SV...? I honestly don't check those sites nearly enough to know if that makes any sense or not.

I would say the opposite about the market today.
5-10yrs ago ya everyone wanted to do 200mph so an I4 was a good choice.
Today I think the market has matured a lot in the US and ppl want a choice.
I'm betting they are doing a remake, just taking longer then they expected.
It might be gone for a yr or 2 but I bet it will be back.
There are plenty of other twins out there.

There are more brands than just Suzuki. Yamaha has a bike for as you said " new-ish rider/ cheap-er bike replacement". It is FZ6R.
