Default 6x12 enclosed trailer build...

Upon the recommendation of a fellow BORNie, I decided to make a build thread for my new trailer. The trailer will serve as a motel on wheels, as well as transport so I want to set it up to handle all duties.
Plans include:
-installing stabilizer jacks
-insulating the walls and roof
-sheating the ceiling
-wiring to accomodate a couple overhead lights and about 4 outlets.
-"work" bench in the V
-various E-Tracks
-pitbull restraint system
-bed of some sort (not decided on which direction I want to go on this)
-vinyl flooring

I'll update regularly as I make progress, but for now I'll just post a couple pics of the jacks I welded on this afternoon.

Getting it ready

Fold up stabilizer jacks

I ground the frame clean of undercoating and the mating surface of the jacks free of paint.

Lined it all up with some magnets

Next step is pulling all the plywood off and wiring the thing.

Looks like a fun project. Honestly tho I would have left the paint on it, but defiantly make sure you seal it back up.

Welding burns off the paint so either way it would have to be resealed. Plus the fact that often leaving the paint on will make it very difficult if not impossible to weld at all let alone get a good bead and he made the right choice.

If he's welding it then yes. I thought he was bolting it on.

I just re read it. Forget my other post. I thought you were bolting them on, because I skimmed the post and didn't read it all.

I've been dreaming about the same thing with my nonexistent future trailer (if only I had something with hauling ability).

I basically want it to look like this one... maybe it'll offer some inspiration for you too.

I really like the fold-out bench/bed that sits on the wall. If you like it, look here.

I also like this trailer built by 1000RR and like his use of resin cabinets, since they're light and cheap and give nice working surface. How long is each leg of your "V" when you measure it? Would this cabinet fit? Obviously not heavy duty, but you may not require that.

Also like these helmet bays.

Lastly, in case you haven't considered it, instead of E-track, consider L-track and get a Moto Cinch instead of Pit-bulls. It's half the price of the Pit-bull and will support a wider variety of bikes without buying pins, etc. It also takes up less space, etc. The only negative, is that if you drop the bike and lose a foot-peg, you'll have to strap it down a different way (not a big deal, just put D-rings in the L-track and secure with ratcheted tie-down).

Hope my dreaming helps with your reality! Good luck with the trailer, I'm sure it'll be great.

Don't end up like lettuce in a Japanese Inspection: spend the time and money on proper protective gear.

If your interests include increasing skill and going faster, please take it to the track. The street is a very dangerous place to learn advanced skills.
