    Default messy ZX6R project

so i figured i'd make a thread so i could motivate myself to do stuff to this thing. at least i'll be able to document it.

    things to do:
    - wrap exhaust
    - heat insulation on under tail
    - PCIII install
    - some sort of tray/undertail thing so PCIII doesn't fall out from tail...
    - powdercoat rearsets and passenger pegs
    - do something with rear brake reservoir
    - do something with front brakes (rebuild MC or nissin swap)
    - throw in K&N filter
    - change spark plugs
    - paint some things...

probably more to do, but that's the list as of now.

got the exhaust wrapped earlier. found out after it was done that the paint needs 400 degrees to cure, so i'll paint it when i'm ready to run the bike or find a junk oven to ruin.

the brake tubing is also there, so that will be next.

thanks for the offers for help, i'll let you guys know if it's needed

You're going to paint the wrap? I think it looks cool like that.

Can someone explain the reasoning behind heat wrapping motorcycle exhaust?
I understand a turbo car but why on a bike?
Is it simply to make it more comfortable on hot summer days?

    Nice list of stuff.

But how is any of that "messy"? You're unbolting some parts, bolting them (or replacements) back on in the same spot, and performing some general maintenance.

Talk to me about "messy" when you're doing actual customization...

the wrap gets painted with silicon high heat stuff to make it resist water/oil. it functions as a heat insulator for the exhaust piping, which prevents the hot exhaust gases inside the piping from dissipating through. i'm doing it more to keep the heat away from other parts. plus it's like $15, looks cool, and gives me 10hp.

don't care. random adjective. messy =/= crazy. i wasn't aware, nor do i care, if messy is associated with the word "customization"
