I do the same as Tony. It's faster/easier and the pit bull is extremely stable. Never had issues with it.

Agree with what you said about t-rex though. It's cheap and bends. The pieces that hold the spools also slide around.

Most stands are fine if you use them once per few months for maintenance or storage, but for anything more there is something to be said for quality tools. They are heavy as hell though.

If the pins are inserted into the bottom of the forks properly, the chances of falling over are virtually none.

When shit happens, it's almost always because the user didn't take the 2 seconds to ensure the pins are in each fork leg.

I find them easier to transport too, as they are generally smaller.

And then you have to have 2 stands to remove the forks?

I have never had a fork stand with pins. Just pads. Not too sure how that works.

I was in agreement with you until Tony mentioned it. I had no idea either. That seems like it would be way more stable than pads.

I have the kind with pads now (Pitbull) and have never had an issue with them either.

Same deal - you have to take a second and ensure pads are properly placed.

The "pin" kind just has two little knubs that stuck into the bottom of the fork.

With the Pitbull model, there is a second piece if you want to use it as a triple tree stand. I rarely bring that piece.

If I was to buy a stand that lifted by the triple tree, I would go with the Woodcraft model. (I got the Pitbull stand in a trade).

Their customer service was fine. They replaced the broken pad no problem.

Now I'm with Christian. I only use put bull front pin stands and every bike I own gets a spooled rear stand. (Also pit bull.)

No there is clearly a pit bull rear stand sitting in the back of the picture.

One of the little feet things bent and as he was loosening the axle and the rubber piece slipped right out.

He's laughing. Some of you guys have met him, ginger mike from florida. This was a weekend we were all supposed to go to Mt. Washington a few years ago and it poured non-stop. He was here so we made a game to see how fast we could remove every bolt from the F4 to part it out.

Total time was just over 2 hours and I want to say 5 or 6 beers each.
