One of my uncles married a virgin when she was 18. She was a super hot model and every woman wants to her and every man wants to be with her. He was so proud that so he never land a finger on her because he believe the virginity will keep her value in the future. Last year my uncle passed away, and she is on the match.com looking for her next husband. I just got an email from her and she is asking me how popular she is.

Sorry .. got side track ....

This bike is a R100 "RT" which came out on 1979 and it was the most expensive motorcycle in the world at that time with MSRP of $6345. It was made from 1979 to 1995, and there were about 30,000 of them imported to US. BMW did not just put a random fairing on their naked bike, but also did the very first wind tunnel on those.

Anyway, it was the hot shit back that time.

Yes, you don't see a 2 original miles 30 years old BMW motorcycle every day, and I can't picture there are many of them out there since those "touring" bikes usually been well used, and have tons of miles on it. However, there are few down side of this kind of bikes, but not only you have very limited market, but also this bike is really NOT a collector item. 1984 isn't really a special year at all, and you can find many very well running and maintained R100RT for $3-4K every day. The bike like this is not going to see the road forever. No matter who has it, it will be either in the living room or somewhere collecting dust.

MAXBMW had a 1983 R100 RS (a much more desired model) sold for 23K last year. I saw that bike is person, and that was "new" to my own eyes, but that was rebuilt inside out down to every single bolts. I will say the price range for this 2 original miles 1984 R100 RT will be around the same if you could find the right buyer.

For having a bike (toy) but never open nor play with it, your uncle is my idol, but using it as an investment, I have totally different mind set of your uncle. I am Mr. YOLO, as you all know.

$6,345+tax+fee 30 years ago would be around $17,000+ today's money, and that's if you put the money under the pillow. If you put those money in the stock market, you are talking about much more. Not to mention how many argument your uncle and aunt had about having a bike for 30 years.

If that's my bike, I will ebay it with buy it price $30k and start the bid with $20k. You will get lots traffic, viewers, and watchers, but it won't sold. 10 mins after the time up, you will get at least 20 offers. That's when we know how much your uncle loves about virgin.

Crappy investment. I'd doubt anything over $15k unless you find a die hard collector.

So today was a crazy day.

Uncle is up visiting for the next month as he lives in Florida now. He sold the family farm house to my cousin and the bike has been there at my cousin's ever since he sold it in 2013.

My uncle texts me and asks me to stop by on my way home from work. I show up and he has an old leather jacket that he hard to ride with that he says he'll never fit into again. Fits absolutely mint. Then he gives me an envelope. Inside is this.

This man means the world to me. Taught me so much over the years working on farm equipment and whatever other projects he had going on around the farm.

He bought and restored a 82 vw caddy which he later gifted me as my first car. Helped me work on numerous things over the years. Has helped everyone in the family forever without asking for anything in return.

The way he talked it sounded like he'd love to see it on the road again. Hopefully I'll try to get it down to the house this month and start tearing into it over the winter. It's going to be a huge project but this would be something I'd never think of getting rid of. Sorry for the mush. This got me right in the feels.

That’s what my Duc is like to me. I often consider selling it. I enjoy riding it even if it’s not a super performance machine. I got mine from my (favorite) uncle. It was also hardly ridden/stores in a heated garage. I just can’t bear to part with it though.

Keep it, clean it up, ride it.
