I used my Chromecast all of two times when I owned it. I have since replaced it with the Streaming Stick. The SS is basically a Roku3, with the ability to stream from your phone as well (movies, videos, and YouTube...I'm not sure about browsers).

Maybe once ever have I felt the need to stream a browser screen to my TV; the vast majority of the time it's streaming YouTube...and I already have Netflix/Hulu/etc accounts, which Roku supports and CC does not.

Chuck, since you already have a Smart TV, you really get most of the benefits of the Roku already (with the exception of all the private channels Eric alluded to...which I have also never used). If you're only trying to stream websites/YouTube, the Roku is slightly overkill....except if you want to use it on vacation or business travel or something.

I find new private chs everyday.
Most are crap, but if I find one good one a week, well do the math.
Most of the private chs are done by nerd kind for geeks.
So the content is actually not bad, if its a good ch.
Think video podcasts, most do a new episode every week or every few days.
    Some really good stuff.
But you have to do a bit of leg work to find them.
Some require you to send an email for a code to add to your acct.
    Most all are free.

Fyi, a droid, plus Samsung smart tv no longer requires any of these devices to control youtube on the tv. I can look up a video on the all on my phone, hit a button and it appears on the tv. This happened after the last tv update.

Does the droid app allow for a keyboard and typing? I have the Samsung SmarTv app on my iPad and it's ok, but doesn't pop up the keyboard when typing is required.

And the Samsung remote sucks with its touchpad. I usually use a Logitech MyHarmony universal remote, because it operated 98% of the functions of all of my devices.

    Not that im aware of.
    Its just media sharing.
You find a video pic or song and can flick it to the tv.

That actually looks awesome for a non-mac household... Now if only it talked to my iphone and computer I'd think about the switch based 100% around showtime anytime.

Yeah I was wondering about that. If it had a smartphone option, which it looks like it doesn't.
