    Default Mountain Bike

I picked up skiing as my "healthy" hobby, Chris S. convinced me to pick up mountain biking for the non-snow days.

    I'm 5'11, what ya got?
Looking for something fairly decent. I have cash.

Oh shit! You'd better bring that thing up this way every once in a while.

This is the ultimate resource online in the US for mtb:

There is a northeast classifieds on facebook, but it's mostly just pinkbike ads...

Probably 17" frame size. Go to a shop and sit on some stuff, see if they have any you can ride in the parking lot. Once the trails dry out by the farm I'd rent something or borrow a bike and mess around a bit.

The question is really budget and what you want for suspension (front and rear, front only or none). Good thing is used bike values aren't good so you can save a bunch on something that's only a year or two old, or just buy something old and cheap as your first bike and decide later what you really want. FS (full suspension) bikes need much more maintenance but obviously can be fun on the bigger stuff, HT (hard tail) bikes are better at pedaling and are lighter weight, rigid bikes are the lightest weight and simplest to maintain (not many people bother with these).

My Wife and I share a Trek-3500. It's doesn't have rear suspension, but has decent parts for the price point. It's a good bike for light trails, but wouldn't be great in really hard core stuff. It does have disc brakes which many bikes at it's price don't even have. I've read that one of the main limiting parts on the bike is it's wheels... which should be any east upgrade if we ever get more into it. It's mainly used as a mode of transportation at the dirtbike trails once we settle down later in the day with some drinks in us.

Want to keep it under $1k to start. Rather get a used bike that is nicer vrs, a new bike that isn't as good.

I've been thinking about selling my Cannondale F5. Size is a large (I can toss a smaller stem on if you think it's to far of a reach, which I doubt you will)

It has 1 ride on it since it had a full work over and wheel truing.
    -Gabe, is a racist.

Look on craigslist . I got my cannondale f7 for 200$
Has front suspension with disc brakes. Pretty decent deal Id say and it was barley used.

Sandra's car only falls apart because she likes to hit things.
