i new a racer who powdered coated his rims as well and during racing/practice he was losing air on heavy braking. the tires were moving on the rims. just be careful of the amount on the beads is all. nice job by the way

I had thought about it but steered clear for some of my original reasons for doing the build in the first place. I know that the FZR600 isn't/wasn't a competitive race bike and doing a frame swap like that sort of went against the "don't make it into something it isn't" mantra. I see this thing as more of a super fun "trackday weekend warrior" type bike. That being said, however, I'd love to eventually see it entered in some sort of sanctioned race. It'll probably never win but having that possibility open is cool in its own right. It only really fits in two classes and that's USCRA Period IV and CCS Thunderbike. Any sort of frame swap would actually preclude it from both of those competitions which was enough of a reason not to do it for me

The frame swap wouldn't preclude it from the USCRA, you'd still run the same class as it's based on displacement. There is also a ton of precident for it being done back in period as well. I'd also suggest checking with Eric Ketchler on thunderbike as they've allowed some 600 swapped 400s in other regions recently...

Edit: Yup, got confirmation that last year was the test for the concept, 600 swapped 400s were allowed in Thunderbike, if you contact CCS you should be able to get an official OK.

I don't want to talk about it.

Just waiting on Johnny to finish up the forks and for Mike to ship the levers. I'm hoping it'll be ready by the weekend after next.
