They looked fine but because the bike Sat so long I'm thinking the reeds gave up the ghost after the first few rides

Is it normal to have to tune a two stroke after you change reeds? The new reeds are not any better or worse than the last set. Bike seems to be down on power in the higher rpm.

Are you sure you're not just over-revving in the first place?

Sounds like an air/fuel issue...choke all the way off, for sure? Clean air filter with no mouse nest? Good fresh gas? Not too much premix oil?

If all those things are set, sounds like time for a carb clean or adjustment.

I’ve never heard of new reeds “fixing” a poorly running 2 stroke, unless the old ones were broken.

Filter is new, carb is clean. Maybe the choke was not all the way off

If you don't get the bike into the powerband it will seem sluggish on the top. Once you get it into the powerband it should rip up top from then on out.
