Default Old helmets, what do you do with them?

I've got an old lid that probably shouldn't be worn anymore, but I'm not sure what the best option to get rid of it is. Anywhere to donate? Just huck it in the trash?

I always keep 1 "too old/ too many crashes" lid on hand for those odd big wheel down a major hill moments. other than that, garbage.

If they have a cool paint job like my Neil Hodgson replica, I display them. Otherwise, I dump them like Kyle

Trash unless I keep it for sentimental reasons.

A mix of the above. Keep one around for something fun. And keep a backup for lord knows what. You never know who might be over your place and wants to go for a bike ride and you need a spare lid.

There is guy on here or nesr that has a huge show piece of old helmets. I gave him a couple a few years ago and he put them up as part of his wall. i think he said he over 100 helmets. I thought it was a neat enough idea to donate some nice shoei and aria helmets without worrying about him selling them.

I usually keep one or 2 old helmets around and toss them in when i sell a bike. Everyone always wants a free helmet and i'm not giving them a nice one. As a matter of fact thats how i usually get the old helmets, when i ask for one when i buy the bike.

That reminds me. Craig, from NEBCO, does helmet art. usually on old 3/4 brain buckets from the 70s. may be worth asking him if he wants some other mediums next time you're there.

Good call, I'll give that a shot.

I seem to have an issue with lending out old helmets (friends want to take new GF for ride/whatnot) and never seeing them again....I plan on using them for some sort of display or something someday.....
