    Video from a very funny ride I had 2 weeks ago. Ended up rebuilding almost the entire bike as a result.

    Well that escalated quickly.

    Why the total rebuild though? I've seen bikes completely submerge before and be fine after they dried out.

    How do you like the 250X? Likely my next bike.

    My guess for needing the complete rebuild, the muddy water, the silt in it gets into everything

    Flooding bikes on the trails here is very routine. The biggest difference was my bike was fully submerged for a solid 5 minutes, so the water had a chance to get into everything. Top end had 100 hours, bottom end oil looked like chocolate milk. Water in the gas, water in the carb. Some of the rebuild was "just because", but I've never seen so much water infiltrate a bike before.

    Also, the bike is an 05 YZ250. I liked the 2018 250x graphics, so I went with those. Plus, my bike is essentially a yz250x anyway. 18" rear wheel, kickstand, guards on everything, 2012 suspension that is softened considerably for the trails etc. The only difference is the new yz x'shave a new airbox design (changes the look of the rear plastics) and a tamer, more trail orientated power valve on the engine.

    Current was so strong that it was a challenge for 3 grown (but out of shape) men to drag it out in those 5 minutes.

    Well at least 2 strokes are easy to work on. I loved my Klim pants when i still rode. What's that thing on your front fender?

    I saw all th3 bikes had that front fender recovery strap thing. Is it worth it? I looked in to it once but decided I had better things to spend that kind of money on

    It's a Stuck Mate, which is basically a winch pull strap.

    Broke it on this ride actually, it didn't last more than maybe 6 months. I didn't make any attempt to break it open to repair it so I could reinstall after the rebuild if that tells you anything. It worked well to help us get up hills that we were stuck on, but the right thing to do is turn around and take another crack at the hill anyway.
