If it seemed hot, definitely install that fan that came with it. Overheating sucks and I s a known issue with those bikes in tight woods, especially with less than expert riders and their corresponding less air flow thru the radiators...but the fan fixes it, or so I’m told, and installation isn’t too difficult.

i did try to install, but the fan doesn't play well with the radiator braces. it is on my list to notch the brace or weld up a small custom brace but idk if i'm going to have time before we leave

Bulletproof radiator guards or similar brands. They fit infront of the radiators and are made from a solid piece of billet aluminum. Super strong while also leaving room for fan kits.

OEM fan? When did they start adding those? When they added electric start?

I'll look them up for sure. unfortunately i leave in <48 hours, so no time to get them and swap before then

Not OEM on this bike, but there is a powered plug right near the radiators. They may be oem on newer models, or for a different model. Super easy install, 4 screws at the 4 corners of the fan, jam a sensor between blades on the Rad and plug it in to the existing plug.

I've never heard of a dirt bike that needed a radiator fan.

    Could an upgraded impeller help?

That's a bigger bore than stock so that makes sense.

    But stock seems odd.

idk. they are a popular topic of discussion on the KTM pages. especially for slow speed technical trail riding where air flow becomes and issue. Depending on what time i get home tonight i may take a look at it. will be nice to have

Don't have one on my 2006 300. Are you running stock jetting? I have high comp head (slavens) and jd jet kit. Runs great.
