    Default FZ6R issue

My FZ6R has been acting a little funky the past few months. I will take off hard from a stop and the motor hiccups 2 or 3 times in first gear. Giving it gas in any other gear does not have any issues. I just changed the air filter and the spark plugs. The issue doesn't seem as bad as before changing those items but its still there. Anything you guys can think of that i should be looking at? A buddy of mine said I may need a valve adjustment. I have around 18,500 miles on it. any help is much appreciated!

Shift fork or clutch would be where I would start.

Coil packs. my wifes fz6 would sputter when you were on the throttle trying to accelerate..
on the pain in the dick scale it was a solid 6 of 10 to replace

edit: didnt see the part about first gear. are you hearing any crunchies from the gearbox when shifting?

no crunching at all. other than the couple of hiccups in first gear the bike acts perfect.

Shift fork/dogs/what ever anyone wants to call them are inside the case.

Clutch I’d start with cable. I’ve had it happen where I slip but only in first.

But I read your post wrong. Motor hiccup isn’t Erving to the moon with a clutch or shift fork. I’d follow Joes opinion on this one.

Valve lash check is recommended closer to 26,000 mile Mark.

How are the chain & sprockets? One steel or aftermarket aluminum rear?

Laws that forbid the carrying of arms. . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." -- Thomas Jefferson, Commonplace Book, 1774-1776

Everything is stock...although Im starting to hear some more chain noise than usual so i have to check that out. I have been digging around on the interwebz and i see some people dealing with coil issues that are something like im going through. one guys sprays some water on the headers to see how fast the water evaporates so that may lead me to whether or not i have a bad coil.

    Define hiccup.

Does the RPM change? do you get any coughs/wheezes from the airbox/exhaust?

My VFR did this once in a while when i was loaded heavy (full 3 piece luggage and passenger) taking off from a stop, felt a little jerky. One time after checking in to a hotel i moved it without my helmet on and i could CLEARLY hear it was coming from the chain/sprocket. It wasn't jumping teeth or anything, but there was definitely noise coming from there. I was the 2nd owner, so chain age was an unknown. Replaced it and it stopped.
