With all the general riding sites in CT dying, discussions could move over to NER, which is likely to hang on. The Delphi forums suck to use though compared to this site.

For me this was an extension of ODFU that was my segue back to CT to connect with local riders. I found that for the most part people here were of the same mindset as me as far as street riding goes (or went) and then came the insurgence of the ďim only riding track/Iím only racing mentalityĒ. IMHO thatís what killed this site. There were too many ďhigh-horseĒ opinions that shunned new members to sticking around. Thereís a right and wrong way to approach noobs, and for the most part this place just had too many that did it all too wrong.

Hell, I remember going on an all day ride with people who were noobs basically and sitting back and watching their riding habits. Kurtz in particular one day I asked him why heíd been entering/exiting corners the way he was.....fast forward to later in the day and we were sitting at my coffee table with my TOTW books and I was explaining things to him that I had learned over the years.....now mike is a special case because he truly is humble and soaked up the information like a sponge, I lent him the books and he went on to become a fantastic rider, and actually turned his passion into a way to supplement his income which is very rare. Others who are not so receptive to constructive criticism (or maybe Iím not the best at delivering it) werenít so receptive......

Point is, the members killed this site. Money and outside/family issues aside the quality member numbers plummeted as soon as the ďeliteĒ went on to racing/TD only and the group street rides dwindled......thatís bread and butter right there.....thereís not many people that can afford to track only their bikes (or want to) due to obligations or finance. When you specialize anything you narrow your focus group and thatís a fact.

My riding (and activity on this site) changed dramatically when I became a LEO. Mostly because I no longer have the self-employment freedom that I did. (Which also completely ruled out anything related to track riding) During the season I always opt for my bike over the cage, and honestly if something on the horizon goes my way (career wise) my commute may change again in a dramatic way.....so Iíll probably sell off a couple bikes because theyíd be impractical for the commute and buy something more appropriate......anyway, personally I had no reason to visit this site as often because a majority of the posts were TD related or some thread about how awesome (or bad) someoneís race weekend went.....the ďhey this weekend weíre meeting up at XYZĒ threads had gone south. If I want race results Iíll go to motogp.com. Unless this was intended on being a focused group on one particular riding genre.....then maybe I got it all wrong....maybe change the name to BOTRO (Band Of Track Riders Only)?

Anywho Iím pissed to see this site go. Anyone who wants to stick in touch with me Iím Darren St. Michael on the book of face.

I hope my opinion regarding the track vs. street perspective doesnít chap too many asses, but really.....you think that because youíre capable of running 11ís at Louden (wait....what the fuck is it called now?). Is gonna get you on the grid with Rainey and Schwantz? (dating myself again).....wake up club-racer.

Thanks but no thanks; if I ever feel the need for a circle jerk of smarmy condescension, inside jokes, virtue signaling, and world wisdom from the Nesr inner circle of self proclaimed geniuses, Iíll head right over, though.

Thanks for the memories, Born. Iíve met a lot of cool, helpful, talented and knowledgeable friends here.

You mean like we have done to basically every new person who comes on here.......

There are reasons why this place hasn't grown and other forums are still thriving

That's funny because that is describing this place to a "T". This place was horrible for anyone new, always jumping on everyone's shit for what you didn't think would fit in here. My wife and I both joined years back and someone jumped all over her sit in the girls only section. That was it for her. Same crap happened to me here, I asked a simple question and got jumped all over. Let this place die in my opinion especially if someone can't run it that gives a shit about the people that aren't in your inner circle.

As far as NESR, I never had one problem with them. Everyone was always nice and able to carry on a conversation without flipping them off or cracking inside joke bs.

Shitty as expected with most regional forums now. But the people weren't condescending douchebags there either.

I'm thoroughly entertained by the completely opposite echo chambers a couple of my favorite motorcycle forums are. Both full of riders and racers, and if the populations ever crossed it'd be like matter and antimatter hitting each other.
